Just discovered my simple pleasure of life - sipping a cup of frothy Cuppaccino in Mc cafe and watching the people rushing by.

Well its has been a very hectic week with lots of deadlines, presentations and assignments to hand in. And its only the third week... i' m sure more things will start pouring in....

It hurts whenever i heard the song by 周華健 - 愛相隨 but its still a nice song anyway..

Today has been a very interesting day and i really enjoyed myself very much although its was pouring in the morning and we were apparently drenched to the skin. Went for our ever first fieldtrip for social studies this morning to Fort Canning. Met our lecturer at the ROM and i was quite amazed by the number of couples queueing to register their marriages. Well we kinda looked like eye sores compared to them cos all of us were in casual attire whereas the couples were quite nicely dressed up.

Anyway went to the spice garden after that and we got to learn the spices that they plant there. Was quite interesting to know that spices were actually very valuable in the past cos spices were needed to preserve the food (there were no fridges in the olden days) and also only south east asia's climate is suitable for planting of some of the spices. Next we proceed to the Keramat then followed by the 9 pounds cannon. The keramat is believed to be the tombstone of the last ruler of Singapore but the irony is that the people cant even confirm that the sultan actually died in Singapore. As for the 9 pounds cannon, its main purpose is to inform the people of the time so just imagine the people in the old days depend on the bombing sound of the cannon to wake up.

Next we proceed to the fort canning centre which used to be a cemetery but they already exhumed the tombs and for the remaining tombstones, the people have decided to mount it to the wall alongside. Next comes the most interesting part of the day which is the battle box. Well its highly recommendable for those who hasn't been to there. Anyway the tunnel is 9m deep and once we stepped inside the battle box, our phones cant recieve any reception and its quite dark and eerie inside because of the wax figures that really look like the real person. Was frightened by the lights and the sound effects along the way cos i was having this funny feeling from the start or most probably i am just scaring myself. Haha Anyway at the end of the trip, one of my classmates got himself a poster that states "be careful of what u talk, enemies have long ears" which he intends to hang it in his classroom and we were teasing him that the poster serves as a warning to the students that the teacher has long ears.Haha

I was standing along the corridor, waiting for my social studies class to begin when i noticed the building facing me. Its the School of Biological Sciences and it seems so near yet so far. All of a sudden, there was a surge of anguish in me. i regretted for not putting enough effort during my poly days. i admired people who are able to enter the degree of their choice. The joy of attaining the degree certificate is simply beyond words to explain. I knew i am in no position to doubt my choice of career path but there were times when i missed the lab and the people. I have no idea whether have i made the correct choice as schooling is certainly a big difference to teaching in a classroom but i am certain that i wouldnt want to work in a small processing room anymore.

Perhaps its the stress that i have been piling on myself because majority of my classmates have at least one year of contract teaching experience. Dont know whether its a blessing or not that i am able to start school without any contract teaching experience and also having to go through the school principal's assessment. However the lack of experience somehow motivates me to thrive even harder so that i wouldn't fall behind others.

Other than that, school is so far so good with social studies being the most interesting subject but i do hope i can befriend more people because there are always new faces in each tutorial/lecture class.

09.08.2007 = National Day = Nation's 42nd Birthday Party = Public Holiday!
Yes so its national public holiday and i gotta wish Singapore a very Happy Birthday!

Time flies. Remembered i just started work during last year's national day but i already started school this year. Anyway, school started on Monday. Was quite nervous and lonely at first and it can be quite traumatising to "survive" for the first few days with the lecturers cancelling these and that lectures, tutorials so on and so forth while the others kept stressing on the need for us to source for our own reading materials cos they are not going to spoonfeed us anymore.

Thank god that i was able to sail through the past few days smoothly and i was also granted my option to swap mathematics for social studies. I am sure that i will not regret this decision because social studies is so fun and well we are going for a fieldtrip next week to fortcanning park to study the early history of Singapore. Sounds interesting issnt it? It definetely beats going through the lectures notes in the classroom.

Anyway think the first week of school is always honeymoon week. Sure things will start to pile up next week.

YUp! So school is starting on next mon. Felt really enthusiastic cos i am finally back to school haha but also a bit intimidating cos i dont know anybody and the professors here do not spoon feed u so we got to look for our own reading sources that they posted online. Been going back to school to buy the textbooks and also to the library to look for the recommended reading resources for the past few days. Just gotten the timetable and well the schedule is much more relaxed than what i expected. Anyway its only the start of the sem, i am sure more projects and assignments will join in the fun. Hee
