Well its already 9 plus.. looks like my weekend is coming to an end again. Went to temple this morning for the 7 mth chanting cum prayer session. Since it was packed with people, i just sat at the corner of the temple observing people from all walks of life. Anyway, its quite interesting to see people gorging down plates of complimentary fried beehoon and curry veggies. Think thats the typical behaviour of Singaporeans bah.. LOL
Although i have been observing the people for the past 3 hours, i didnt really see any pretty ladies and cool guys except there were lots of uncles and aunties but there was this particular uncle that looks like Taiwan's president Chen Shui Bian with the same hair style and eyes. Haha Think he walked away after having sensed that i kept staring at him. But its funny rite.. i just cant help but to kinda "stared" at him..
Anyway went to heartland mall at Kovan afterwards and uncle bought me a pouch so that i can carry my wallet and stuffs with me during lunch time instead of having to carry everything on my hands which kinda makes me look "auntie". Initially wanted to buy a cheap one but my uncle claimed that one looks very auntie so he bought me another one which looks more young but it was rather expensive to me. Anyway thanks uncle ben.
Tmr is my third wk of work. Hopes everything will be fine. Happy working~

Well Its the second week of work already. Been learning from a new mentor since monday and i count myself lucky to have such a nice mentor. Although sometimes i can be quite slow in work, she is still able to teach me with much paitence of which somehow it got me feeling quite guilty for being so slow...
Anyway work is getting more fast paced and interesting now cos i am quite familiar with the basic tasks and that can at least keep me busy for some time. As for the more complicated techniques, think i still need a great deal of time to practise cos it seems to be so difficult to catch the technique of making a nice thin smear.
By the way, i remembered ms phoon once told us that histo and cyto labs are usualy very busy in the afternoon but quite free in the morning. However, it looks like the work in our lab is never ending and the specimens kept streaming in. Think the urine samples alone is enough to "drown" us to death. LOL
Anyway glad that weekend is coming soon.Hee

Last friday was a long long day cos i had to work till 6.30pm. Felt as if all my energy were being drained away. Anyway watched firworks with mun and ch after work so that somehow helped me to perk up a bit. Intially we have decided to go to Glutton Bay for our dinner then at the same time "chop" a place for ourselves but by the time we reached there it was too crowded. As a result, we ended up having takeaways from Yoshinoya along the staircases at Marina Square. It was quite fun though. LOL.
Fireworks was awesome but the place was too packed so it kinda spolit the ambience. I liked the one that burst into golden dust the most. However, compared to last year whereby i stood along the esplanade park, this year's view was blocked by some stupid trees in front of us. And due to the glaring spot lights, i dont think the photos will turn out well.
Anyway time flies... been working for a week already. Tmr i'm going to have a new mentor teaching me. i am quite anxious cos i didnt even knoe the mentor is a guy or lady. Anyway hopes things will turn out well.. Happy working!

Started work on Monday and life seems more hectic and tired than ever perhaps this is because i have rested for too long. Everything looks new to me cos it is a cytology lab and our poly module didnt really touched on the subject, furthermore we were not even attached to the cytology lab during ITP. As the name implies, the lab mainly handles body fluids such as urine and CSF so the specimens are not as disgusting as stool samples.
However, one of the interesting facts is that the building where the lab is located is linked to the montuary block so i got to walk to the histology lab which is located one floor above montuary to collect the specimens. Whether to believe or not, the surroundings can get rather creepy and eerie, maybe also because of the month. :S
First day of work is the most tired one cos i was toxicated by the smell of xylene, formaldehyde and all sorts of percentage of alcohol. By lunch time, i was already feeling very drowsy and fatigue. Anyway my mentor told me to wear a mask afterwards which somehow helps to block the xylene smell and that makes me feel better.
i have been assigned to learn the crytocentrifugation technique, mounting techniques, recieving and sorting of specimens/slides for the past few days, admit that i was rather slow at work cos i dont have full confidence in myself yet and i am afraid that i will mix the specimens up. Working in a health sector is no joke cos we are dealing with paitients' lives. It is going to be huge trouble if i were to mix the specimens up.. Furthermore, it seems that i was also rather clumsy cos i accidentially broke a slide while screening it under the microscope, luckily my mentor didnt screamed at me and i was only told to redo the slide. Anyway hope that i will be faster at work and not so clumsy anymore...
