In my whole life time, todae is my first time "celebrating" birthday in school. Kind of pathetic cos last year i had a mini birthday party in Chiang Mai. Not too bad experience though. By the way, it is also my first time hearing my classmates singing me a birthdae song... oh Im so touched!
Attended the scientific meeting whereby distinguished speakers including professors and clinician scientists were invited to share with us their latest scientific research. Its kinda of interesting but it is also quite boring (juz imagine yourself sitting thru' 4hrs of lecture at one go) Actually we were kind of "cheated" to come to school cos initially 15 out of 18 people in my class registered to attend the seminar as student helpers but only the 6 of us turned up. Sian*
During the seminar, two out of the 5 speakers spoke on uncertainty. Actually uncertainty is about how you doubt the laboratory results that you are going to report to the doctor. For example, measuring the diameter for zone of inhibition that will determines the susceptibility of the microorganisms to the antibiotics. In this case, uncertainty can include whether ruler is accurate or not or you may have accidentally shifted the ruler when measuring the zone of inhibition.
Upon listening to this presentation, i juz felt that why must we think so hard, its making life miserable rite. But as you proceed from basic degree to masters and then to PHD, you will have to start thinking hard. Maybe thats why there are mad scientists.
P.S. Happy 19th Birthday to me!
