"Relax" is the word i shall use to describe Penang. Having spent a couple of days in Penang, i've noticed the lifestyle there in Penang is much simpler and relaxing. The people there are more generous and kind. Take this as example, you can order food from the coffeeshop opposite and tell them to sent to ur table even though u r seating in another coffeeshop. In Singapore's case, the hawker will definetely scold u! In another example, the lady boss of our relative is soo kind, she actually lent our relative her personal 8 seater car as she knew Singaporeans are coming. In singapore's case, don think there is such a caring boss around. We just need to pray hard that they wouldn't fired u. Haha.
The other thing i have noticed is that there are very little fat people out there. This is because there are only a few fastfood restaurants and the food are served in small portions. Thats why the people are not fat even if they eat char kuay teow every day, unlike Singapore whereby the food is served in bigger portions (our 1 plate of chicken rice can be their 2 plates) and besides that fastfood restaurants can be found everywhere.
Maybe its the hill and the sea that makes Penang more airy and brighter. Think its a good place for retirement. Yep.. my parents are fond of Penang and maybe they will migrate there when they are old. As the living expenses is low, think ur CPF savings should be able to take u to ur deathbed. Not a bad idea though haha. At least its better than Chiang Mai, cos we dont knoe how to speak Thai and we don knoe anyone... And also i can go there for vacation. Yipee! Okie thats day dream...got to go back to reality......

Had a wonderful and memorable trip to Penang.. Although this is my 3rd trip to penang, only this trip left me with a deeper impression as im too young to know whats going on during the previous two trips. Here's a update on what i did for the 4 days 5 nights in Malaysia.
23rd December 2005Boarded the grassland coach at 8.30pm and our bus left the old boon lay shopping centre terminal at 9pm. Reached the Singapore 2nd link custom at 9.30pm. Clearing custom is quick as there's no one. (its so deserted till u can see condensation forming on the customs glass entrance doors) By 9.40pm, we have cleared both Singapore and Malaysia customs. i was overfilled with excitement but at the same time i was also worried. Yep the whole journey to penang takes about 11 hours with only 2 stops in between. As u knoe i m kinda "straight pipe" person, i'm jus worried that i'll need a toilet break urgently.. So i took ya ching's advice to try not to drink too much water, okie that helped a little.
Reached Yong Peng at 11.30pm, the bus stopped for 25 minutes for us to take a toilet break and also to grab a bite in case u need some supper. It surprised me that the place has undegone renovation. Its no longer as dirty as last time i visted. This time round there is air con and the toilet isn't as dirty as before. Bought some blueberry waffle and fried carrot cake. The blueberry waffle is nice but the carrot cake sucks, it smells nice but the cake taste plastic. Okie after the 25 minutes break, we boarded the bus again..
i was trying very hard to sleep but i jus cant sleep. Perhaps its the excitement that kept me awake or it was the road lights. (i was sitting at the very first seat of the bus, its juz adjacent to the bus driver so im facing the windscreen, wonderful view) Since i can't sleep, i might as well kept my eyes wide open to view the "scenery" ahead (actually there is nothing interesting to see except occasional police road blocks and toll station). Hours later, we reached KL, wow u can jus see the difference between KL and other states. Cos its the capital, u can see all the high rise buildings and condos, but what a pity.. our bus didnt pass by the twin tower.
Reached the 2nd stop at 3.10 a.m in a place quite ulu (don knoe whats the place but it looks very kampong..) the toilet is sooooo filthy and u need to pay RM 20sen. Oh my goodness. Jus imagine my dad told me the smell of the toilet wakes him up and mind u the smell is so pungnent till his cigarette cant even musk it. After a couple of hours, finally we reached Butterworth Bridge (Penang bridge) at 7.15am. Wow the view is magnificient. U can see the sun rising, the deep blue sea and the hills. Perfect picture! Yes we have finally reached Penang and we were ushered to Sunway hotel to check in.. From here our vacation officially started...
24th December 2005Completed all checking in paper works at 8.20a.m. but check in time is 1pm. so all we have to do is wait for our relative (Auntie Lay Kim) to come and fetch us for breakfast. While waiting, i went to the lobby toilet to brush my teeth and to wash up. Kinda refresh myself a little, think i do look like a ghost without a night of proper sleep.
Had breakfast at a restaurant called wang zhao jun. haha sounds very cina rite. but the food taste fantastic. Unlike singapore Hor Fun which is fried then topped up with thick gravy, theirs is steamed then the gravy is poured over the hor fun. The gravy taste like those used to steam fish and its light but quite salty. Next come the Fish Head beehoon, unlike our fish head beehoon, theirs is the spicer version. Besides milk and all the typical stuff, they added lots of lemon grass and chilli padi. Mind u the chilli padi is the green colour ones. i ate one as i mistaken it as the garnishing pasley.. Oh my god that got me jumping for water.
After that Aunt Lay Kim and Uncle San brought us to the sleeping buddha temple. As i mentioned above, the Buddha is in sleeping position and the status is gigantic. Behind the statue there are also rows and rows of Buddha statue each representing a a birth month( jan to dec) and the 12 chinese zodiac animals. There is also a four faced Buddha of which each face represent education, wealth, health and peace. we got to pray in clockwise direction. Afterwhich we proceeded to the other temple opposite and on our way, we grabbed an ice cream. Wow i can say the ice cream taste fantastic. It is made from coconut juice and is topped up with sweet corns, peanuts and atap seeds. Its not so sweet and it taste light and refreshing. Think its like their local gelato icecream.
After having visited the other temple, we went to our Aunt Lay Kim's house. Initially, I was quite surprised at the outlook of her apartment cos unlike our condo, theirs look very old and dirty (worst than our HDB flats) but inside of the apartment is quite nice and cosy especially the view from the balcony. Wow the scenery is great. U can see the sea and the buildings from jus 10 storey high. Uncle San also shared with us his tsunami experience. That day he was fishing at the tsunami site and he saw this kind of funny wave. Cos the wave drew back revealing the seabed, normally the wave is suppose to come back but this time round it kept going back. Suddenly this huge wave juz came crushing in, everyone started to panic and ran for their lives. Many people could be seen deserting their cars and running towards the hill. Without much hesitation, he also ran for his life and luckily he survived. But its a huge trauma to him as he can see with his own eyes people being swept away into the sea and blackened bodies floating on the surface with all the debris.
Its 12.50pm. Ye finally we can check in so they drove us back to the hotel for us to take a shower and also to rest. Later we had our lunch at the so called hawker centre, its quite dirty but the food is very nice. As i'm doing my final year project on food pathogens that will cause food poisoning. im kind of scared of eating the food but i juz throw all my worries away and induge myself in the delicacies. yummy there are Assam laksa, popiah, char kuay teow, kueh kuehs, fried mee siam, xian hu, chendol. Yep all the mouth watering foods! I particularly like the xian hu, its so special and u cant find it in singapore. Actually its like rojak with fried fish, bean sprouts, cucumber topped up with a special gravy. The gravy is orange in colour, kinda thick and a bit spicy.
After lunch, we went to another temple to pray to a Aunt Lay Kim and Uncle San's mother's tablet. the temple was very serene and windy. Nice place to be laid to rest huh.. Uncle San next brought us to another temple located on the hill. Its a very very big statue of godness of mercy. Standing next to the statue will make u look like a tiny ant. Anyway we prayed and donated a tile for the construction of the roof of the pavillion that will house the statue. They allowed u to write ur name on the tile and next time u may see ur name on the roof top. As the temple is on the hill, u can see the whole penang and even the sea. Took a couple of pictures there.
Actually there is a story behhind the godness of mercy. it is said that many years ago, the penang bridge collasped and many people died. However, its a surprise that the bridge only collasped halfway if not even more people could have died. The next day, the statue's arm broke off and the people believed that the godness of mercy sacrificed her arm to hold the bridge thus saving many people's life. Therefore, they decided to construct a new statue to replace the old one with the broken arm.
Okie after that we went downhill where there is a market selling all sorts of things but more are targetted towards the tourists. Nope the things don seem attractive to me perhaps to the angmohs. As all the stores are located on the slope, it can be quite tiring to climb up and down. But good cardiovascular workout.
After that we went to gurney plaza. Its a high class shopping centres and all the shops are selling branded goods e.g Gucci, Esprit, Nike... Converting the price to sing dollars didnt really save much. Bought a wedding bear handphone chain for 9.90 RM. Didnt buy many things as the things are not cheap. Later we went back to the hotel to rest. At around 7pm, our relative came to fetch us for dinner. Its seafood dinner. We ordered lots of dishes that comprises of many kinds of shellfish, fried fish, bbq crabs and prawns, fried noodles. But this is not for the health conscious.. the dinner must have been loaded with lots and lots of calories, cholesterol and perhaps hepatitis C. haha.
After dinner, we went back to hotel. But to our surprise, the alley in front of our hotel has a stretch of hawkers selling all sorts of food. my father's eyes is like wide open and he's like later i must come down to have supper. Yep although its juz after dinner, we went for our round of supper. Ordered dessert (dried longan soup and almond soup), fried oyster ommelette and prawn noodles. All the food taste good except for the oyster ommelette, its a bit disgusting as there is lots of flour and the oyster is raw or half cooked. It taste funny, think its worst than singapore. Anyway, i felt very very guilty after eating supper... there goes my months of dieting..haha
25th December 2005As expected i cant sleep for the whole night or maybe a few hours of sleep only, becoming a panda soon.... Went for buffet breakfast at 8.30am. Thank god, the buffet didnt have a great varieties of food, so i didnt eat as much. After that we went for a walk outside our hotel, hopping to find a place to shop but its sunday so most of the shops are closed. Sian* anyway jus treated it as an exercise. Been walking for few hours, so we decided to have a drink in the coffeeshop. Ordered ice tea, yep that taste very nice but its kinda sweet. The tea is very thick and smooth and i can say its even better than our bubble tea that is so much more expensive. Ordered some small dishes like fried kuay teow, mee sua, assam laksa from the roadside stalls and my mum was attracted by the fried fish that goes with fried bee hoon. there lots of people eating that. But there is a long queue and we don have the time to wait so got to give it a miss.
At 12 pm, Uncle San came to fetch us and he brought us to another temple again. This time round the temple house a buddha that will grant people's wish. I kind of find is very interesting. Cos u are suppose to concentrate and make a wish at the small buddha statue. Afterwhich, u will lift the statue up but u do not require any strength at all. Then the 2nd time, u make the wish again.. this time round u should not be able to lift the statue up then u may consider ur wish is granted. If u can't lift the statue up for the very first time, you should not try anymore as this means that ur wish will not be fullfilled. Think this normally happens to gamblers that pray for lots and lots of money.
Behind the statue is a life sized statue of a monk. It served as a guard to the statue. But it really look very real and kind of errie cos when i looked into the eyes of the statue, it kind of look back at you and it don give me a feeling of a statue. Errie.. Anyway later then i found out that the statue is actually human body, it is the body of a late monk and surprisingly, the monk's body didnt decompose. Thus the people sticked gold foil over his body and he is stituated there to protect the statue. My goodness. no wonder he looked sooo real.
After praying, we went to eat the infamous oyster ommelette (haha my aunt kept complaining about the yucky oyster ommelete that we ate last night, so uncle san decided to bring us to eat the REAL oyster ommelette)Hahaha, as usual the coffee shop is very dirty and dark. If we were to pass by the coffeeshop, don think we will even give it a second look but who knoes there is a stall famous for oyster ommelette down there. The oyster ommelette is really special, there is little flour but lots of egg, the egg is crispy and the oyster is huge and fresh. Yummy! After woffing down the ommelette, we proceeded to penang road. Its a stretch of road that sells all kinds of dried food like salted food, preservatives and others. Bought lots of cuttlefish and nutmegs and dried goods. Think the people there are quite generous, they juz let u try and try till u decided to buy. Anyway we bought $120 worth of dried products. As the weather is quite hot, we went for the infamous teochew chendol which they called yendiu in penang. As it is a road side stall, the customers juz stand by the roadside to eat and they serve in small bowls each costing 1.20RM. The chendol is not so sweet, and the gula melaka is fragrant. there is lots of red beans and chendol jelly too. Yummy. Ye another kg gain for me.
After that we proceeded to a huge shopping centre( i ve forgotten the name). As its christmas day, the shopping centre is crowded with lots of people and its kind of stuffy. There's lots of shops but unfortunately we have no time to finish shopping the whole building. Perhaps next time if we go penang again, we can go there to shop! At around 6pm, we went back to our hotel to rest. Uncle San came to fetch us for dinner at around 8pm. the restaurant is known as seaside cafe. There is a lot of stalls in it but we only ate from a zi char stall. Ordered a lot of dishes and it is cheap and nice. The bill is only 140RM for 10 persons.
Afterthat we went to a open air cafe whereby u can drink and listen to people singing on the stage. Yep its quite boring, cos they are singing all the hokkien oldies so i juz sat there, sipping my orange juice and staring into the blank. Luckily, we left soon after and we went to the seaside for a stroll. Yep thats the place where the tsunami came. Thoughts of the floating bodies and the wave sent shivers down my spine and what a coincidence that day is also tsunami 1st aniversary. But the people there are as normal, u can see lovely dovely couples hugging and strolling, people sipping red wine. Quite relaxing to stroll and enjoy the sea breeze. Its 11.30pm... time to go back to hotel.
Ye after taking shower, its supper time again. Cos its our last night in penang, we ordered even more food. There are desserts, bbq chicken wings, char kuay teow, fried noodles and hor fun. We were eating so happily that the drizzle didnt even chase us away. Haha. Nice feeling to eat in the open air.. no more thoughts of food poisoning for me.
26th December 2005Perhaps im too tired. its my first time sleeping thru' the night and yes i feel sooo good! Had our buffet breakfast and my mum met a interesting pair of father and son. they were at the fruits station piling their plates with lots of papaya and watermelon. My mum heard the father telling his son to eat lots of papaya so that he can shit. haha sounds like typical singaporean but kind of disgusting to say it in a cafeteria.
After breakfast, we went back to pack our baggage and ready to check out. Its our last day at Penang and im reluctant to go. At 12pm, after all the checking out paperworks, Aunt Lay Kim and Uncle San brought us to lunch at a local zhi char stall. Ya again all the dishes are delicious. After lunch we went to buy the famous penang tau sau bia. What a surprise! when we reached the store, there is no more tau sau bia left. the store is so chaotic. oh goodness its my first time seeing people snatching biscuits. haha. Anyway, Aunt Lay Kim manage to lie that she ordered 6 boxes but the log book don have her records so they only gave her 3 boxes. What a dissapointment, we took 11 hours of bus to penang for the tau sua bia and we only manage to buy 3 boxes. Sob Sob.. Anyway, Auntie Lay Kim later brought us to another shop also famous for the biscuits but it is also sold out. In the end, we went to other store whose tau sau bia is not that nice... bought a couple of boxes. Later our relative drove us to our family friend, Auntie Hua Jie's house in Parit Buntar.
Parit Buntar Reached parit buntar at 4pm. the weather is soooo hot and im kind of shocked by the surrounding. Although our Aunt Hua Jie's house is a 3 storeys shophouse with a clinic downstairs (the clinic is run by her nephew who is a pediatric specialist), the surronding is like oh my god, u wan me to stay in this place? no way ! there is really nothing except shophouses which are dark and dirty selling all sorts of dried products. There is also a former cinema that is converted to house the sparrows and u can see sparrows flying all over the place... that really worries me of bird flu! Besides a supermarket and a mini shopping mall selling clothes, there is nothing much.
Being a city girl, its kind of a culture shock to me. Worst come to worst our family friend do not knoe the place well so we cant go anywhere unless her family came to drive us around. Sian* Afterwhich, her brother and sister in law came to drove us to dinner. Its quite stressful to eat with them as her brother is a school principal and her sister in law is a teacher and they really practise strict hygiene like having a serving spoon on every dishes and he kept emphasising not to waste food. In my case, when there is leftover, he kept telling my sis and i not to waste food and he kept reminding us to clear our food. ARGH!!!!!! its not i don want to finish my food but its like the food sucks... Think my mum's cooking is even better.Ye that really makes me kind of flare up and i really wants to go home! Alright next time i may have to consider eating with principals and teachers!
Anyway, we stayed in a motel next to her house and that is really a nightmare to me. the things are soooo old, i juz cant imagine that i will stay in that place. Worst still, the people staying there are kinda weird. The pillows and the blankets are soooo smelly and the toilet is full of insects that looks like grasshoppers which bites u at night. Worst of all, my mum even saw a indian man hugging a women upstairs, the woman looks like a prostitute. My goodness don knoe whether there is HIV or not. Since the room is so small and filthy and we got no where to go but to spent most of our time in the coffeeshop downstairs. Its really really very boring and its kind of driving me crazy. Don knoe why the time is especially slow. ARGH! How i missed Singapore and my home. Luckily, we only went there for 1 and a half day and a night.
Thank god, we left on the 27th December at 9pm. haha think its the first time in my whole life to board a bus with such a happy feeling. Cos i knew im going home!!!! Yippee! Frankly speaking, i shall not go back to Parit Buntar anymore, the surroundings has scared the wits out of me. Even u were to give me 1 million dollars, i will not go back!

Initially i'm supposed to meet up wif my sec buddies but the gathering was postponed as one of my friends got caught up wif something. So i end up watching King Kong with my sis. My goodness thats a long movie.. the King Kong lasted for 3 hours...okie as expected my bum went numb after 2 hours and my bladder nearly burst all thanks to the huge cup of vallina coke.
Think the movie is quite draggy cos its like a rojak of love story, big foot, godzilla, lost world and titanic. Was quite amused at the part when the cast were being chased by dinos cos its like the humans are scared of the gigantic dinos and it turns around that gigantic dinos are being chased by the small T rex.. Haha it reminds me of dominos... Anyway, i can't control myself but laugh out loud when everyone is like going "woo...ahh..oh my god!". Admit i was quite embarassed. Guess people must be thinking im sicko. Anyway, the ending part was quite touching and i could hear some sobbing sound... haha no not me... its my sis who was sobbing uncontrollably.
Okie enough of the King Kong thingy. Afterall i still enjoyed the show cos of the climaxs and the handsome cast especially that guy that starred in the movie, The Pianist. For those who have not watched the movie.. do go and watch.. its worth the ticket price.. Leaving for Penang tmr.. got to pack my travel backpack or my mum is going to nag at me..

Phew finally the fun fair is over and our class earned $158! Muhahaha thats a lot! Fun fair was fun but the weather is sooo hot and stuffy...all of us nearly "fainted" haha. Fortunately the chocolate fondue was a sucess. Actually i was quite surprised that Jun Yi and Bing Hong are quite attentive, u knoe guys are normally careless and they dont really think of the bits and pieces. However, i can say they really did a great job buying all the stuffs and jun yi even brought a mini fridge from home so that the blocks of chocolate wont melt under the hot sun and the apples will be cold) Oh i really took my hat off them!
Business was plain though as there were approx. 4 stalls selling the same thing as us... So fustrating. Frankly speaking, its not that im praising my class but i just think that our chocolate fondue is the best! Just imagine the warm and smooth chocolate slipping down your gullet as u swallow the apples and marshmallows! Wow the sensation is heavenly! Other stalls were just selling chocolate fondue with cheapo chocolates. One tried to coat the fruits with instant hershey chocolate and the other stall even burnt their chocolate. Haha
Its amusing that one of the customers actually complained to us that the other stall chocolate fondue is so bitter! Anywayz, many people whom tried our chocolate fondue gave us a thumb up and they were so eager to knoe where we bought the chocolate and even the fondue cooker. haha... By the way, we were very grateful to Ms Adeline koh for her kind publicity for our chocolate fondue.. think that really helps to draw some customers and Mr Joshua Sng for being our first customer of the day! Thank You
Anywayz, i can say we really enjoyed ourselves very much and i felt that setting up a stall as a class can really help to bind us together...If there's any fun fair in future, i may consider....
Oh ya there's also another thing worth mentioning... one of the customers (a couple) were guessing whether we are food technology, chemical engineering, optometry or biotech... but they didnt mention medical technology till the girlfriend said that maybe we are med techs. True enough when i told them we are medical tech.. they looked sooo surprised. Haha whats wrong with medical technology.. Guess they must be thinking med tech students are only good in handling all the human specimens and drawing blood but heehee we are actually selling delicious chocolate fondue... hahahaha

Yeah todae is the last day of term 1, wow time really flies.... another term for me to go and i'm out of sp school gate...to be honest, i'm reluctant to go cos i don think im prepared for work... Anywayz i'm going to enjoy each of my schooling day hereafter to my fullest since there's only another term to go.
Next week is the e-learning week. As the name implies, we can stay at home but i don't look foward to it....or in other words i rather find the week disgusting.. Its ridiculous! All lecturers are taking the opportunity to throw us tonnes and tonnes of assignments.. My goodness! i rather go back to school!
By the way, tommorrow is our CLS fun fair... our class is setting up a stall selling chocolate fondue.. heehee kinda excited but im also kind of worried cos i didnt tried preparing chocolate fondue before... What if the chocolate burns then there's going to be a disaster.. So better touchwood and pray hard for tommorrow success.. Yummy mouthwatering chocolate apples... here i come!:)

Alright talking about survivor stuffs again... i've been thinking whether the survivor guys really survive on the pot of corns only... do they get any medical aid when they are sick... how they bath without soaps and do the people get paid for their participitation? Most importantly, is the images shown on TV a true reflection of what they r doing. Hmmm.... perhaps they maybe enjoying themselves when the crews are not filming. Anyway, think the people must have a difficult time cos it looks like they have lost a couple of pounds. At the same time, i've been thinking whether the participants need pyschological counselling after spending approx. 40 days on the island... having adapted to the serene environment with fresh air, guess they must have find it hard to adapt to their city life once they get back.. Yeah... i'm looking forward to tmr survivor-reunion... so eager to see the survivors all new refreshed appearences!
Todae at dinner time, my family and i were discussing about men nowadays.. okie actually my sis brought this topic up first cos her teacher told her class that her brother got arrested for suspected child abuse after slapping his children in the public for being mischevious (its obvious that someone went to report to the police). Actually, I really hate men that beat or scold their children in the public. I always see the fatherly figure as one whom is gentle and patient and one whom will guide and protect his children. And not one that scolds or even beats the children up in public. I strongly feels that its a disgrace to punish your children in public. One should always discipline his children at home. Anyway, its not that im old fashioned or whatever, i just feel that all disciplining and nagging is the mother's job and father should be the one doing the counselling. But looks like the world is changing... guys nowadays are starting to discipline their child in public! Wonder whether is it their chromosome is mutating or are they getting more estrogen that gives them a more feminine touch. Hahaha
Is it good to have a sibling at home? What a contradiction, sometimes i just feel that i m really fortunate to have a sis to play with me and also to share my woes with. But sometimes i really hate her... she is like a monster creating havoc.. i just cant stand the sight of her. Being the eldest in the family is quite bad... don u feel that the eldest often got blamed for the wrongdoings of your younger siblings and we end up getting the punishments. Argh! I admit that im no angle but my sis often drag me into hot waters... she is always the one starting the arguement... how i wish i got the magic to make her disappear for the moment! Oh Harry Porter how i wish u were here...

Watched Survivor-Guatemale finale yesterdae afternoon, didnt really enjoyed the show cos of guilt. Heehee actually i'm suppose to study for clinical chemistry test but i end up using the few precious hours watching the show. Anywayz i'm kinda dissappointed with the outcome. It turns out that Danni won the game. I'm absolutely sure that Rafe deserves the million dollars given his leadership qualities and good sportsmanship but it looks like he has lost to his kindness. However, this also shows that Rafe has a heart of gold! Think the survivor game taught me the cruelty of man, im sure everyone of us ( Ok don need to say except mother theresa and other noble persons) are selfish lot... Who can actually stand up to say they are not selfish and they definetely wont backstab other people. So i juz think that this show really taught me to be more aware of the person around us..Man are not 100% reliable, its always better to be more independent.
Was bored on sunday afternoon so i tried some quizzes on BBC- science and nature site.. One of the quizzes is about finding the true sex ID of your brain. Yeah some man can have female brain while some women can have male brain haha Sounds very interesting rite. Guess wat! my brain is not totally 100% female. Mine is kind of 50% male and 50% female. Oh my goodness! that means i got the potential to be transexual. haha. Okie maybe thats why the index and ring finger on my right hand is of female characteristic while my left hand is of male characteristics). For people whom do not knoe what am i talking about.... actually the height of the index and ring fingers for ladies should align while for man, the index finger should be shorter than the ring finger and for my case i got both. haha.
P.S.: msg to ya ching... don laugh off your chair when u read the above.

Watched the movie Cast Away last night, nice movie i can say especially the part where Tom Hanks got to learn to survive on the deserted island all by himself. Admired the character for his survival skills and the way he talks to his captain ball, Wilson. If u put me in his shoes, i think i will juz go insane. But to think i really enjoyed talking to my teddy bears, the potential of me getting myself admitted into Woodbridge hospital must be quite high. haha. Anywayz, if i had to be stucked on a deserted island, i do wish to have Rafe with me. i admired his loyalty to friends, his kindness and leadership qualities. Perhaps i may have higher chances of survival with his accompany. Yeah dream on...
What a boring sunday afternoon! All my family members have gone shopping but i can't tag along... all thanks to Tues Clinical Chem Test! If i were to follow, don think i can finish studying. Argh... been pondering whether to go for Tues morning english makeup lesson or not, cos there's a test in the afternoon and the few hours in the morning is soooooo precious... Frankly speaking, i never skip any lessons in all my schooling years before. Last sem i tried to skip lesson but the lecturer called my phone and the three of us were forced to go back to class. I admit at that time i must be stupid to ans the call.. perhaps i dont have enough skipping lesson experience or maybe i'm destined to be a good girl. Haha Anyway we went back to class and ya ching and chuen hong were really furious with me for pulling them into the waters. So if u r prepared to skip lesson, better to be wary of private number calls

Just flipped thru' the photos taken during last year's Chiangmai vacation & i just feel that time really flies. Yeah. Its been a year. If im not wrong, last year at this time i was enjoying myself but this yr is pathetatic! Oh man.. its been a very very busy wk for me.. all thanks to immuno test and heaps of data sheets and reports to complete. How i wish i could just wash my hands of everything and go for a nice long holiday.. perhaps to some countryside haha.
Yesterday, Mr Yeo took some pictures of us during our lab session for some publicity thingy. Although he ensured us the pics are all close ups of our hands at work without faces, everyone of us (including me) jus ran at the sight of his camera. haha. That really reminds me of my secondary school days as the school photographer. I used to think that there is nothing wrong with your picture snapped and one should feel proud that his/her photo is going to appear on the school magazine but now then i realised the feelings of the "victims". Yeah some people jus feel shy and they juz want to keep a low profile.
Okie that teaches me to be more aware of others feelings before i snap their pics without their consent. Anyway, he managed to snap us secretely when we are really engrossed in our work... So don be too surprised to find your pics on the publicity pamphlets.

Alright this is an update regarding the UK degrees tat our lecturer discussed wif us yesterdae. Pretty upset to hear that our starting pay for diploma holders is only $1,200 to $1,300. If i were to work for a few years before i further my studies, don knoe when can i save enough with that pathetic pay. Besides that nowadays in the scientific field degree holders are considered norm. Perhaps in 5 to 10 years time, master is considered norm too and in 20 years time, every researchers may have to be PHD holders. Oh my goodness, that means i got to keep upgrading myself in order to survive in this industry. Hmmm.. actually not quite a bad idea though.. Been daydreaming myself as a PHD holder.. think by the time i will be a mad scientist spending most of my time in the lab and the best part is having others to address me as Dr Ng. wow.... But pls don imagine me as those mad scientist with the Ronald Macdonald's hairstyle and weird character. Guarantee i will be perfectly normal physically but i cant guarantee mentally. Haha.
Okie our lecturer actually advised us to go to UK as the uni there offers direct honours, on the other hand, australian universities only offered maximum 2 years advance standing. Hence you got to study for 2 yrs to obtain your honours degree and tat also means that we have to pay double. So instead of paying 30k plus for juz a general degree, might as well go for a direct honours cos the starting pay for degree holders is only $1,600-$1,700, whereas a honours degree holder's starting pay is $2,000- $2,200. Its a great jump in the salary and Im really attracted by the starting pay...

i always feel that as we grow older, we will be more vexed cos there will be more problems surfacing... perhaps thats is life. Missed the good old secondary and primary school days as there's really nothing much to be vexed about besides studying and studying .
Begin to feel the stress of working world..Few months to go and i will be stepping out the gates of SP. And that means im reaching another junction of my life, kinda of hate it as this time round, the decision i made is going to decide my future.
Although, i ve been studying biomedical sciences for the past three years, im still not really sure of my interest in this field. But i don have the courage to pursue a degree in other field as that means i will have to start all over again.. think its better to leave to fate..
Perhaps people may think that im fickle minded in decision making as i seems to be easily affected by the comments of other people. However, i do have my own thinking. Been planning to pursue a degree course since year one. In these days, the government kept investing heavily in biomedical sciences research and more people are opting for this course. Having sense the upcoming competiveness, im sure a diploma will bring me to no where. Thats why i see the need to upgrade ourselves.
But here comes the problems...where can i get such a huge sum of education fund? which country shall i go? which university shall i go? these questions have been bothering me for a long time and sadly to say to date i have not given myself a satisfying answer. Although i don like molecular thingy but it looks like in order to survive in this field in the near future, we would have to choose a course that is molecular based which means that tasmania is out for me as it is more towards traditional method...
Been discussing with our lecturer on the degree courses offered overseas and he strongly recommended UK degrees. Ya if u let me choose a Australia or an UK degree i will definetely choose the latter but its provided that im flithy rich to afford that. ARGH anyway i juz feel at loss. Hoping for someone to advise me.....

In my whole life time, todae is my first time "celebrating" birthday in school. Kind of pathetic cos last year i had a mini birthday party in Chiang Mai. Not too bad experience though. By the way, it is also my first time hearing my classmates singing me a birthdae song... oh Im so touched!
Attended the scientific meeting whereby distinguished speakers including professors and clinician scientists were invited to share with us their latest scientific research. Its kinda of interesting but it is also quite boring (juz imagine yourself sitting thru' 4hrs of lecture at one go) Actually we were kind of "cheated" to come to school cos initially 15 out of 18 people in my class registered to attend the seminar as student helpers but only the 6 of us turned up. Sian*
During the seminar, two out of the 5 speakers spoke on uncertainty. Actually uncertainty is about how you doubt the laboratory results that you are going to report to the doctor. For example, measuring the diameter for zone of inhibition that will determines the susceptibility of the microorganisms to the antibiotics. In this case, uncertainty can include whether ruler is accurate or not or you may have accidentally shifted the ruler when measuring the zone of inhibition.
Upon listening to this presentation, i juz felt that why must we think so hard, its making life miserable rite. But as you proceed from basic degree to masters and then to PHD, you will have to start thinking hard. Maybe thats why there are mad scientists.
P.S. Happy 19th Birthday to me!

Before i continue with my entries, can i ask; have anyone took the initiative to explore and research on the course u r deciding to take when u enter poly?Well for me i did not.
Straight after my "O" levels, i juz knew that by hook or by crook i m going to sign on the Home Econ Teacher Training Scheme that enables me to pursue double diploma in education and also applied food science. But i didnt really expect not to be selected. Perhaps im too nervous during the interview. As im left with no other choices, i juz chose my course without giving it second thought. Actually i chose medical technology cos it has the lowest aggregate points and also the lab coat. The lab coat? Maybe u wont believe wat i've said but i juz feel that wearing the lab coat will make me look so professional! Haha. Think its a childish idea of mine.
Anywayz, i m pretty impressed by the two secondary girls who came to "visit" us during our lab session. At first we thought they were sent by their schools but actually we were then told that they came on their own as they wanted to have a first hand experience of poly life. Wow... From their eyes, i can juz see the burning desire to study in our course. I admire their courage and enthusiasm.
